Getting in
Global Conflict runs on Android, as an app you download from this site, and in any modern web browser at play.globalconflict.co.za, which you can add to your home screen on iPhone, iPad or a computer. The game is free to play.
The first screen offers two ways in:
- PLAY NOW starts the game straight away as a Guest, with no form to fill in. A Guest plays the real game, fights included, but cannot chat, join a clan or appear on the leaderboards and tournaments.
- I already have an account signs you in, and from there you can create a new account with a username, email address, password and your year of birth, or sign in with Google. You must be 13 or older to play.
A Guest is kept for 7 days, then deleted. Playing does not extend that, and your progress lives only on the device you play on. Save the account (an email and password, or Google) from the banner at the top of the screen and it becomes an ordinary account with everything you have built kept, and you can rename yourself for free while you do.
The tutorial
The tutorial walks you through the game one real action at a time, against a training opponent called Sgt. Rourke. You will:
- set up your profile and pick your flag (the flag is yours for good once chosen);
- spend your first Ability Point;
- beat Sgt. Rourke in two fights, which takes you to Level 2, and add him as your first Ally;
- buy land, build your first Base and see how hourly Income works;
- buy a weapon, run a mission, and spend and switch on your first Tactic;
- take Cash out of the Bank to buy a Humvee, your first vehicle;
- land a hit on an Invasion Boss.
Finishing the tutorial pays 25 GB. You can skip it, but skipping pays nothing. While you are in the tutorial, Rookie Protection keeps you out of fights with other players on both sides: nobody can attack you, and you cannot attack them.
What you start with
- Cash: $100,000 on hand and $500,000 in the Bank, where it is safe.
- Gold Bars: 10 GB.
- HP 100, Energy 10 and Ammo 10, all full.
- 5 Ability Points to spend on HP, Energy, Ammo, Attack or Defence.
- One of each Key: an Attribute Reallocation Key and a Tactic Reallocation Key, to redo your point choices later, and a Name Change Key.
Boot Camp: your first five days
For the first 120 hours after your account is created, you are in Boot Camp. The Home screen shows it with a LIVE BOOT CAMP strip and the time left. During Boot Camp:
- HP, Energy and Ammo refill twice as fast;
- your Bases produce twice the Income (your upkeep stays the same);
- when it ends you receive 50 GB, and the game reminds you a day before.
The clock runs from the moment your account is made, whether you play or not, so these are the days to build up your Bases and level quickly. How fast each bar refills:
| Bar | Regenerates | During Boot Camp |
|---|---|---|
| HP | +5 every 2 minutes | +5 every 1 minute |
| Energy | +1 every 4 minutes | +1 every 2 minutes |
| Ammo | +1 every 2 minutes | +1 every 1 minute |
Your first day
A few habits that pay off from the start:
- Build Income first. Bases pay Cash every hour, with no upkeep, and Boot Camp doubles them. Income piles up while you are away, but only for 12 hours, so collect it from the Bases screen at least twice a day.
- Spend your Energy on missions. Each mission costs a few Energy and pays Cash and XP. Every level-up refills HP, Energy and Ammo, and gives you 5 Ability Points, 2 Tactic Points and 1 GB, so levelling while your bars are empty is free Energy.
- Protect your Cash. Other players can take part of the Cash you carry when they beat you, and more when they defeat you outright. Money in the Bank is safe from them and from upkeep, at a 10% fee on each deposit. Keep what you are saving for in the Bank.
- Mind your upkeep. Armory gear costs Cash every hour, taken from the Cash you carry. Buy the gear you need, and keep enough Income to pay for it.
- Heal before you fight. Attacking costs 1 Ammo, and both sides need at least a quarter of their HP. The Medic heals a quarter of your HP or all of it, for Cash, and can pay from the Bank.
Every day after that
- Daily Tasks reset at 12:00 UTC: five of them, two paying Gold Bars and three paying Cash. Weekly Tasks reset on Monday at 12:00 UTC and pay more.
- Every Task you claim also earns Merits on the Tour of Duty, the Season Pass, where every 100 Merits reach a new tier of rewards.
- A tournament runs every couple of weeks, each scoring a different activity and paying as you pass its point tiers.
- As you grow, join a clan: clans share a skill tree and fight Clan Bosses together, the only source of the Workshop's crafted gear.
