What the Workshop is
The Workshop is where you build gear nobody can buy: crafted weapons and vehicles that reach past the best of the Armory. Open it from the WORKSHOP tile on the More screen. It is open to every player, at any level, and has four tabs:
- INVENTORY: the blueprints, parts and recipes you hold;
- WORKBENCH: where a craft runs;
- FORGE: where three of a kind become one of the next rarity;
- COLLECTION: every blueprint you have found.
In short: Clan Bosses drop blueprints and parts, the Forge trades them up, and the Workbench turns a blueprint, parts and Cash into gear.
Rarity
Blueprints and parts both come in five rarities: Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic and Legendary. The rarer a recipe, the stronger the gear it makes, and the more it asks of you.
Blueprints
A blueprint is the recipe for one crafted weapon or vehicle at one rarity. Each blueprint first turns up at its own starting rarity and exists at every rarity above it, so the same gear can be made better and better. There are 90 to find, and the Collection counts how many you have found so far.
- Found or not. A blueprint you have never held is a padlock in the Collection, with no name and no stats. Once you find it, its card shows what it makes at every rarity, and it stays found for good. Part of the fun is not knowing what is out there, which is why this guide does not list them.
- Learning. Learn a blueprint to turn it into a recipe you can craft from. It is one way: a learned blueprint cannot be forged or sent on. Learning a second copy at the same rarity adds its crafts to the recipe, and the same blueprint at another rarity is a separate recipe.
- Unlimited recipes. Some recipes never run out. A spare copy of one cannot be learned, but you can still forge it, send it or delete it.
Parts
Every recipe also needs parts. There are 15 kinds:
- Weapon parts: Scope, Magazine, Barrel, Stock, Trigger Group and Suppressor.
- Ground vehicle parts: Wheel, Track and Turret.
- Air vehicle parts: Rotor, Avionics, Airframe and Payload Bay.
- Armor Plate and Engine serve both ground and air vehicles.
A part has a rarity too, and a recipe takes parts of exactly the rarity it lists: a better part does not stand in for a worse one. Parts cannot be sent to other players.
Where blueprints and parts come from
Blueprints and parts come from Clan Bosses, so you need a clan that marches to one. Every hit that does real damage rolls once for a drop (a hit held to 1 damage rolls nothing). Each boss feeds one side of the Workshop, weapons, ground vehicles or air vehicles, and most of its parts are that kind. Each boss's info sheet in the app shows these odds:
| Difficulty | Blueprint a hit | Part a hit | War Chest parts | War Chest blueprint |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Easy | 0.6% | 6% | 3 | 10% |
| Medium | 1% | 8% | 5 | 25% |
| Hard | 1.5% | 10% | 8 | 50% |
| Difficulty | Common | Uncommon | Rare | Epic | Legendary |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Easy | 60% | 28% | 9% | 2.5% | 0.5% |
| Medium | 45% | 32% | 15% | 6% | 2% |
| Hard | 30% | 33% | 22% | 11% | 4% |
When a clan beats its boss, every member who marched with it gets a War Chest, whether they landed a hit or not. It opens after the weekly reset on Monday at 12:00 UTC and holds the parts and blueprint chance in the table above.
Clanmates can also send each other blueprints, once both have been in the clan for 3 days. You can send 5 a day, and the count resets at 12:00 UTC.
Storage
The Workshop holds 100 slots. Each stack of the same blueprint or part takes one slot however many it holds, and each learned recipe takes one. Nothing expires.
- With storage full, a drop of something new is lost, but more of something you already hold still lands. Keep a few slots free during a Clan Boss week.
- A Forge result and a War Chest always land, even with storage full.
- Deleting a stack throws all of it away, with nothing back.
The Forge
The Forge turns three of the same rarity into one of the next rarity, for blueprints and parts alike, up to Legendary. Each forge costs $100,000 and is instant.
- Three identical blueprints or parts give that same one, a rarity higher.
- A mix gives a random one of the next rarity.
- Every step is certain except Epic to Legendary, which works 75% of the time. If it fails, the three are gone and one random Epic comes back.
Crafting
A craft runs on the WORKBENCH from a learned recipe. It spends:
- the parts the recipe lists, at the rarity it lists;
- Cash;
- the Armory weapon or vehicle the recipe builds on, and for some recipes a named Illegal Goods item instead or as well. The Black Market changes its Illegal Goods every two weeks, so if you lack the item, the refusal tells you whether it is on sale now.
You must have reached the crafted item's level to craft it. Holding, learning, forging and sending blueprints have no level limit, so you can collect toward gear you cannot make yet.
- One craft at a time, on a timer. The recipe shows its time, from 30 minutes for a Common recipe to 12 hours for a Legendary one. There is no way to speed it up.
- Each recipe has a number of crafts, fewer the rarer it is: 10 at Common down to 2 at Legendary, unless it is unlimited.
- Cancelling refunds everything the craft took, but not the time it ran.
- A finished craft counts toward the daily Workbench Task.
Crafted gear
What you craft appears in the Armory's Weapons and Vehicles tabs under CRAFTED. Crafted gear is the fourth kind of gear, alongside Armory, Illegal Goods and Limited Edition, and competes with them for the same places in your squad: each card tells you whether it is IN YOUR LINE-UP or OUTRANKED BY YOUR GEAR. Crafted gear has no upkeep, there is no limit to how much you can own, and it cannot be sold.
Without a clan
Drops need a clan, but the Workshop itself does not. A player outside a clan can still open it and learn, forge and craft with what they hold, and anyone who leaves a clan keeps everything. Only sending blueprints needs a clan.
