Today we reset every account in Global Conflict back to Level 1. If you had built something up, it is gone, and we are genuinely sorry. You spent real hours on those accounts.
Below is exactly what went wrong, why a reset was the only honest fix, and what is already waiting in your account.
What went wrong
Players were skipping the tutorial and then immediately attacking brand-new accounts to steal the $100,000 in starting cash. Many of those targets had not even opened the game for the first time yet. Their account existed, it was defenceless, and it was emptied before they ever saw it.
The damage was not limited to the players who got hit. Early-game progress across the whole server had been shaped by cash that was taken this way, which is why we could not simply patch the hole and carry on.
What we changed
New players are now completely out of PvP until they finish the tutorial. They cannot be attacked, they cannot be bountied, and they cannot attack anyone else either. Protection works in both directions on purpose, so it can never become a shield to farm from behind. The practice bots are still available throughout, so there is still somewhere to learn how fighting works.
The tutorial itself has been reworked. Every step now locks the screen to the control it is pointing at, so you cannot wander off-step, attack the wrong player, or buy the wrong piece of gear. The top status bar stays available the whole way through, which means healing, the Energy and Ammo crates and the Bank are always one tap away and no step can ever leave you stranded.
- Tactic points can go into any unlocked tactic you choose, instead of only the first one.
- Finishing the tutorial now appears in your Log alongside the 25 Gold reward.
- A batch of highlight and scrolling fixes throughout the walkthrough.
The reset
Every account is back to a brand-new state at Level 1 with a fresh tutorial. The world was reset with it: chat history cleared, bosses respawned, and the tournament reset.
Your account itself was not deleted. Your username, your password and your email are exactly as they were. Sign in the way you always have.
Your compensation
Every player has received +25 Gold Bars and +$500,000 in bank cash. It has already been applied. There is nothing to claim and no code to enter.
It does not give back the time, and we know that. It is a head start on the rebuild and an acknowledgement that this one was our fault, not yours.
Update before you play
The server no longer accepts older versions of the app, so you will need to update before you can get back in.
If the web app still looks like the old build after refreshing, open globalconflict.co.za/play/?r=1 to clear the cached version and reload cleanly.
